listed below, which are all wholly owned subsidiaries of ASH.
American Specialty Health Plans of California, Inc. (ASH
Plans)
ASH Plans is a specialized health plan for chiropractic
and acupuncture benefit programs in the state of California. ASH Plans
provides chiropractic and acupuncture benefit programs to full-service
health plans and employer groups. ASH Plans was licensed as a Knox-Keene
plan in 1994, covers over 4 million members/insured, and is California’s
third-largest specialty health plan.
American Specialty Health Networks, Inc. (ASH Networks)
ASH Networks is the backbone of ASH’s administrative
capabilities. It provides most of our administrative services and contracts our
provider network nationwide. ASH Networks is a third-party administrator for
complementary health care benefits for self-funded employers, insurance
carriers, and health plans in more than 30 states.
American Specialty Health Insurance Company (ASH Insurance)
ASH Insurance, formerly known as Western Diversified Life
Insurance Company, is a health insurance company domiciled in Illinois and
licensed or admitted in 42 states. ASH Insurance provides complementary health
benefit programs to health plans and employers in states where allowed. ASH
Insurance was acquired by ASH in 2001.
Healthyroads, Inc. (Healthyroads)
Healthyroads is an obesity management, tobacco cessation,
and disease prevention program offering health education programs that empower
members/insured to take better care of themselves and achieve healthier
lifestyles. The Healthyroads for Living education program includes telephone
and e-communication services through trained Healthyroads educators,
proprietary educational workbooks and modules for specific health care needs,
and an integrated Web site, Healthyroads.com®. Healthyroads also offers
mail-order/e-commerce with discounts on over 2,500 health products.
American Specialty Health Networks of South Dakota, Inc. (ASH
Networks-SD)
ASH Networks-SD performs third-party administration and
clinical services evaluation (utilization management) in the state of South
Dakota. ASH Networks-SD also contracts directly with South Dakota providers for
our complementary health care network.
American Specialty Health IPA of New York, Inc. (ASH IPA-NY)
ASH IPA-NY contracts with licensed health plans in the
state of New York on a delegated, at-risk basis for the provision of
complementary health care benefit programs.
American Specialty Health Clearinghouse, Inc. (ASH
Clearinghouse)
ASH Clearinghouse receives information from providers,
formats it to make it consistent with HIPAA regulations, and forwards it to the
ASH affiliate for processing.
American Specialty Health Systems, Inc. (ASH Systems)
ASH systems assumes delegated risk for complementary health
care benefit programs in most states, based on approvals from local regulators
(such as the Department of Insurance), by contracting directly with health
plans and insurance companies. ASH Systems utilizes ASH Networks’ contracted
providers, third-party administrative services and clinical services evaluation
(utilization management), and is sometimes referred to as a health services
intermediary.
American Specialty Health ODS of New Jersey, Inc. (ASH
ODS-NJ)
ASH ODS-NJ is a licensed Organized Delivery System in the state of
New Jersey. ASH ODS-NJ administers complementary health care benefit
programs on behalf of licensed insurers and health plans in New Jersey
on a delegated, at-risk basis.
