Healthyroads Achieves National URAC Accreditation for Comprehensive Wellness Standards and Measures

SAN DIEGO (January 08, 2009) –  Healthyroads, Inc., the wellness and prevention management services subsidiary of national health and wellness organization American Specialty Health (ASH), announced that it has achieved accreditation for URAC’s Comprehensive Wellness program. Achievement of this status places URAC's seal of approval on Healthyroads wellness and prevention programs and demonstrates they have met industry-recognized standards. It also further reaffirms Healthyroads’ commitment to understanding and meeting the expectations and needs of its customers.

Healthyroads was one of only five companies nationally to achieve this new accreditation. Several additional companies are in process to receive accreditation and will undergo review in the near future.

“As a health and wellness company, it is extremely important–critical, even–to be recognized by a leading accreditation agency like URAC,” said ASH CEO and chairman George DeVries. “The organization’s seal of approval will strengthen the perception of our programs and push us to produce services of the highest caliber and quality,” he continued.

"URAC's Comprehensive Wellness standards reinforce and support the commitment that wellness organizations have to ensuring the health and productivity of America's workforce," said Alan P. Spielman, URAC's president and CEO. "As employers look to prevention and wellness as a means to improve employee health and reduce costs, URAC's standards offer a breadth of focus beyond whether the company offers an assessment tool or a particular intervention. Accredited companies must demonstrate a comprehensive approach–that they use evidence-based tools and interventions, that they support consumers with information they need, and that they have the ability to integrate services, a necessary component in today's environment."
