American Specialty Health, Jazzercise Inc. Team Up to Promote Network Participation in Silver&Fit Healthy Aging Program

SAN DIEGO (March 17, 2009) –  Leading health and wellness company American Specialty Health Incorporated (ASH) has teamed up with Jazzercise to promote individual Jazzercise franchise participation in ASH’s Silver&Fit® healthy aging program. Silver&Fit is a healthy aging program that provides seniors and other Medicare-eligible individuals with unique fitness, nutrition, and health education classes and events.

ASH’s Silver&Fit program supports seniors as they begin or maintain a regular exercise regimen and learn how to make healthier choices in their daily lives. Unless required by their health plans, members pay no copays, coinsurance, or deductibles to participate in the program or its activities.

Silver&Fit members will have access to classes at participating Jazzercise locations across the United States. These classes focus on cardio, strength, and stretch training through a fusion of jazz dance, resistance training, Pilates, yoga, and cardio box movements.

“American Specialty Health and Jazzercise share a commitment to empowering individuals to take charge of their health regardless of their age,” said ASH chairman and chief executive officer George DeVries. “By joining forces with Jazzercise, we are better equipped to help seniors succeed in maintaining an active, healthy lifestyle throughout their ‘silver’ years.”

“Jazzercise and American Specialty Health make the perfect team to empower individuals with fun and effective fitness through Silver&Fit. We are excited to be a part of this wonderful program,” said Jazzercise founder and President/CEO Judi Sheppard Missett. “We believe fitness is an important aspect of well-being and enhances the overall quality of one’s life.”
