MEMBERS GIVE HIGH SCORES TO ACN-HP

San Diego, CA (January 9, 1996)-- The American Chiropractic Network Health Plan (ACN-HP) today announced the results of an independent member satisfaction survey. Results of the survey included the following:

  • 91% of members surveyed were overall satisfied with their chiropractic benefits through ACN-HP's managed care programs, with 71% "very satisfied."
  • 94% of members surveyed were satisfied with the care received from their ACN-HP chiropractor, with 84% "very satisfied."
  • Nine out of 10 members said they would recommend their ACN-HP chiropractor to a friend.
  • Two-thirds of members were able to obtain an appointment with an ACN-HP chiropractor within a day, with virtually everyone able to see a doctor within three days.
  • Eight out of 10 patients reported waiting times of 10 minutes or less, with over half waiting 5 minutes or less.
  • Over half of the members claimed the addition of chiropractic benefits influenced their decision to select their current health plan.
  • 80% to 92% of members gave the following attributes of ACN-HP chiropractic care top ratings: friendliness/courtesy of chiropractor and office staff, chiropractor's and office staff's responsiveness to questions, time to obtain an appointment and thoroughness of examination.
  • Over half of the members also gave top ratings to the ease of getting treatment authorization and the time it takes to get authorization for treatments.

"We found the survey results were consistently high from category to category, as well as among the various demographic groups, including gender, income and age," said George DeVries, president and chief executive officer of ACN-HP. He added that dissatisfaction levels were negligible (4% or less) in all categories surveyed.

"We are pleased with the results of this survey and believe they attest to the quality of our provider network and our managed care program," DeVries said. "However, with our quality management program and quality improvement efforts, we hope to attain even higher marks on future member satisfaction surveys."

The survey, which was conducted by Interviewing Service of America, Inc., polled 3,000 randomly selected ACN-HP members by telephone during the months of November and December, 1995.

San Diego-based American Chiropractic Network Health Plan is California's first chiropractic HMO serving over one million members in all 58 California counties with a network of 1,200 providers.
