American Specialty Health To Expand Chiropractic Services to CIGNA HealthCare Members in Midwest and Eastern United States

San Diego, CA (June 3, 2002) – American Specialty Health, the nation's leading complementary health services organization announced it has expanded its relationship with CIGNA HealthCare to provide the chiropractic network and credentialing for more than 1.36 million members in the Midwest and Eastern United States.

CIGNA HealthCare HMO and Point of Service members who have coverage for chiropractic services and live in Connecticut, Delaware, Indiana, Maryland, Missouri, New Jersey, New York, Ohio and Washington D.C. plus select counties in Kentucky, Michigan, Pennsylvania, Virginia and West Virginia can now access these services from any one of the thousands of contracted chiropractors within the American Specialty Health network in these areas.

ASH Networks currently provides access to CIGNA HealthCare members in other states under existing agreements. In addition, CIGNA HealthCare members without chiropractic benefits can access chiropractors nationwide directly through the CIGNA Healthy Rewards® Program. The Healthy Rewards® discount program is offered at no additional cost to employers or members, as a way to enhance their benefit plans and meet the growing demand for complementary and alternative services. Members can save up to 25 percent on the usual fees for chiropractic services.

The Healthy Reward® Program is provided as an advantage of plan participation and it not part of the benefit plan. Healthy Rewards® is not a covered benefit or an insurance program. Members do not need referrals, nor do they file claims to obtain discounts. They obtain discounts by presenting their member identification card. The program discounts cannot be applied to any co-payment or coinsurance for services covered under the member's benefit plan. Members schedule appointments directly with service providers and also pay them directly. Some features of the Healthy Reward® program are not available in all states.
