Criteria for the $5,000 scholarships included grade point average, a written essay, financial need, and participation in various professional activities. The winning essays were "The Future of Complementary Healthcare" by Jill Vuong, "The Hologram project: Integrating Complementary Healthcare and Mainstream Healthcare Delivery Systems" by James Lyons, and "Improving the American Healthcare Delivery System through Prevention, Active Healing, and the Integration of Complementary and Alternative Medicine" by Eric Crum.
