American Specialty Health Receives Four Awards from the 15th Annual International GALAXY Awards Competition
SAN DIEGO (Nov. 23, 2004) – American Specialty Health (ASH) was recently honored with four awards from the Annual International GALAXY Awards. One entry, receiving the Gold Award, will now be considered for the competition’s exclusive Grand Awards.
ASH’s Corporate Awards Banquet Program won the Gold Award in the category of Public Relations: Employee Awards. The Corporate Awards Banquet is an annual event ASH hosts to recognize employees who have made significant achievements in the areas of best idea, improved health, top producer, top performer, customer service, quality, teamwork, leadership, and continued years of contributions that have positively impacted the company. The banquet’s A Night with the Stars theme was visually displayed in all facets of their communications, including blue and black, starry night invitations and programs and event décor that featured Oscar-like statues and a red carpet.
ASH won the Silver Award in the category of Public Relations: Awareness [Single] Campaign for its various Black History Month posters that were displayed throughout the company. The posters were a part of ASH’s 2004 employee communications program to promote diversity within the workplace. Each poster recognized the contributions of an African-American in the fields of art, education, business, politics, science, society, and sports.
Employees were invited to order free reprints of the posters that were displayed throughout the building. The response was overwhelmingly positive. More than 25 percent of the employees ordered reprints. Two employees even ordered the entire series for family members who are teachers.
ASH’s third award-winning entry, an ASH Tribute Room Supplement, received a Bronze Award in the category of Interactive Media: Corporate. The debut of this internal Web site aligned with the opening of the company’s Tribute Room, a special area of the lobby dedicated to ASH’s mission, history, accomplishments, and future. Both the Tribute Room and the Web site work in tandem to convey to visitors a feeling of professionalism and healthier living.
And finally, the ASH 2003 Year in Review brochure won a Bronze Award in the category for company profile brochures. Used to present the company’s developments, achievements, and employee contributions during 2003, the Year in Review brochure received numerous compliments from both clients and employees for its soothing color palette and water theme.
“We are tremendously proud of all of our award winners,” said George DeVries, chairman, president, and chief executive officer of ASH. “We strongly support the goals of the GALAXY Awards and are grateful for the international recognition that both our Marketing and Information Systems departments have received among the industry’s best.”
The International GALAXY Awards Competition is sponsored by MerComm, Inc., an independent organization whose sole purpose is to recognize, evaluate, and measure the standards of excellence in various communications, including marketing, public relations, graphic design, and more.
