American Specialty Health Awards Scholarship to Massage Therapy Student
SAN DIEGO (August 29, 2005) – American Specialty Health (ASH), the nation’s leading complementary health care benefits organization, announced the winner of its 2005 scholarship award for students pursuing careers in massage therapy.
The scholarship winner is Donna Pizzuto, a student from Louisville School of Massage in Lexington, Ky. She will receive $1,000, which will be applied toward further studies in massage therapy.
Criteria for the ASH scholarship included grade point average, financial need, and participation in various professional activities. Applicants were also required to submit a written essay on their studies in complementary health care. Pizzuto submitted an essay titled “The Sense of Touch.”

Each year, students pursuing careers in various aspects of complementary health care may apply for scholarships totaling $41,000 through the ASH scholarship program. Qualifying students are those studying chiropractic, dietetics, naturopathy, massage therapy, or acupuncture at accredited institutions across the country.
