American Specialty Health Acquires Top Floor Office Space at Historic B.B. Kirkland Building in Columbia, S.C.
National health services company American Specialty Health Incorporated (ASH) announced that it has acquired the top floor suite – Unit 300 – at the historic B.B. Kirkland Seed and Distributing Company building, located at 912 Lady Street in Columbia, S.C. The 5,570 sq. ft. office was purchased from APEX Development for $1,225,000 and will be used exclusively as office and collaboration space for Information Technology professionals. ASH says it will eventually employ as many as 30 people at the site, and will be recruiting for software, UX, UI, QA, DevOps engineering roles as well as a Director of Software engineering.
ASH is no stranger to the Columbia area. In 2012, the Carmel, Indiana-based company leased office space in the “IT-oLogy @ Innovista”-branded building at the Tower at 1301 Gervais Street, staffing it with IT professionals, including recent graduates of the University of South Carolina. ASH will relocate its IT-ology employees to the new B.B. Kirkland building in early 2018, with an anticipated opening sometime in February.
“Columbia is a great place to do business and ASH is committed to Columbia for the long term, so it makes financial sense to purchase rather than lease office space.” said ASH Chairman and CEO George DeVries . “This building is centrally located in the Vista section of downtown Columbia, within walking distance to USC, restaurants, apartments and other housing. We’re excited to have a more permanent footprint here.”
